Eh?
These few pages concern a revolutionary type of London bus.
Although 665 of these worked the capital, <1% of this type survive, so what’s here is more about its “afterlife”. The site records the vagaries of returning this particular specimen to presentable order.
This may be prelude to a book about the bus as touchstone (and metaphor) through one man's modestly eventful life. |
Begun 1999
After a short working life (1969-81), this bus served as a community shop, then a pub garden play-bus. Since then it has undergone 15 years' restoration, then paused for 8 more, and is now entering its final leg toward running condition and display.
|
Our GoalTo complete the restoration to 'as-delivered' condition, for live running on historical London routes, supplementing sister bus AML539H (owned by previous business partner of this vehicle's previous keeper), and perhaps provide roving facilities and promotions in the enthusiast world.
